Position: Pathology Lab Technician
The overall objective of the program is to improve the health of the female population in Uganda, improving the prevention and the clinical services for diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer, breast cancer and coriocarcioma at St. Francis Nsambya Hospital in Kampala.
The program will develop and enhance the following areas:
Prevention campaign for population trough screening and early diagnosis of cancer in female population.
- Specialized technical assistance, training for local staff in medical oncology and purchase of equipment.
- Specialized technical assistance, training of local staff in surgical oncology and purchase of equipment.
- Expansion of support services, such as biomedical maintenance service, communications in emergency, whose best feature increases the impact of the interventions described above.

Position: Pathology Lab Technician
Functions:
- Offer technical assistance to local staff on:
preparation of cyto-histopathology specimen
reporting of cytology specimen
general organization of the pathology laboratory
- Offer trainings to local staff on:
preparation of cyto-histopathology specimen
reporting of cytology specimen
general organization of the pathology laboratory
- Collaborate with either local and expatriated staff
- Offer training to postgraduate students and other staff if required
Requirements
- Degree in medical laboratory technician with specialization in cito-hystopathology
- Experience in the field of work of at least three years
- Knowledge of Italian and English
- Submit CV in English
Preferred
- Past experience inUgandaor Sub-Saharan Countries preferred
- Volunteer experiences in African countries
- Communication skills
Period of placement requested: 1 MONTH (Tentative schedule: April 2012)
Contract: Private with flight, insurance coverage and salary according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs guidelines on short missions.
