Position: Midwife Nurse

The overall objective is to contribute to the improvement of maternal and child health, goals 4 and 5 of the Millennium Development Goals.
The specific objective is the enlargement and improvement of maternal and child services of the Comboni Hospital in Wau belonging to the dioceses of Wau -State of Western Bahr el-Ghazal - South Sudan.

The project will reach women and newborn babies accounting approx. to 65.000 people either from the city of Wau and rural area and neighbouring States.

The project includes the following actions:
• Technical assistance, training for local staff and Technological equipment for locally sustainable support services essential to the clinical activity (diagnostic radiology and laboratory, basically)
• Civil works, specialized medical assistance, training of local staff and Technological equipment for locally sustainable maternity services.
• Specialized technical assistance, training of local staff and technological equipment for locally sustainable general support services (maintenance systems and biomedical equipments, hygiene services) whose best feature increases the impact of the interventions described above.

Medicus Mundi Attrezzature Onlus and San Raffaele Hospital in Milanare partners of the initiative and will add added valued trough their specializations.

Job description

Place of Work: Wau-SOUTHSUDAN at S. Daniel Comboni Hospital

Position: Medical Doctor

Functions:

• Clinical daily activity for inpatient and outpatient, with responsibility of training for local staff
• Planning and organization of work within the structure in which it operates

Requirements

Degree in Medicine and specialization in:

- Gynaecology,

- Paediatrics,

- Tropical Medicine,

- General Medicine,

- General Surgery,

- Public Health

Experience in the field of work of at least ten years after specialization
Knowledge of Italian and English
Submit CV in English

Preferred

Past experience in Sub-Saharan Countries
Volunteer experiences in African countries
Communication skills

Period of placement requested: 6 MONTHS approx. (2012)

Contract: Ministry of Foreign Affairs registration, insurance coverage and salary according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs guidelines (according to CV evaluation, Level C, Level B or Level A will be attributed).

Formal procedure of Selection

The costs (transportation and others) in support of candidate’s participation in the selection tests are to be paid for candidate.
